Proposed Code Changes

Voting is now open on the proposed revisions to the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) Code of Professional Ethics and Practices. Voting on the Code revisions will remain open until Friday, April 16, 2021, at 12:00 PM (GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US and Canada). Approval of the Code revisions requires a majority of those voting and at least 25% of eligible voters must vote.

Our Code expresses the principles that we, as an association, believe support sound and ethical practice in the conduct and use of public opinion and survey research. Members were invited to comment on the proposed revisions, and the Executive Council made some additional changes as a result of member feedback. The Executive Council strongly encourages your support for the revisions. It is critically important that our Code be kept current to reflect and respond to changing environmental circumstances in public opinion and survey research.

To ensure confidentiality, AAPOR members eligible to vote received a link to the online ballot and a unique password. Please refer to that email to vote. If you have any questions please contact Rachel Schuster at 202-207-1108 or [email protected].

The following are the supporting documents for your review. The supporting documents will all also be accessible directly from the online ballot.

1. Current Code of Professional Ethics and Practices
2. Proposed Code of Ethics; Version with proposed changes accepted
3. Crosswalk Document: Summary of Proposed Changes to Code of Ethics

Sincerely,

The Members of the AAPOR Executive Council 2020-2021
