Getting ready for May – Volunteer!

by Kristen Olson, MCR Chair
May is a big month for AAPOR – the annual conference AND lots of opportunities for new volunteers to get involved with AAPOR!

First, the Membership and Chapter Relations Committee has been busy making plans for the annual conference. Have questions about the annual conference? Check out the Conference Guide for New Attendees on the AAPOR website.  Be sure to attend the New Member and All Chapter Reception on Thursday evening. Each chapter will have a table with fun giveaways, with a chance to meet your local chapter representatives!

Second, the Volunteer Coordination Subcommittee wants to help you get involved in AAPOR. Starting in April, each committee chair will select committee members for 2016-2017. We have created a new volunteer form on the AAPOR website. Simply complete a few easy questions about yourself, and the Membership and Chapter Relations Committee will pass your information along to the relevant committee chairs. Most committee work is done over phone or email. Many committees will have an in person meeting at the annual conference, but you don’t have to attend the conference to be part of a committee. This is your chance to get involved, so complete the form today!

Finally, if you haven’t updated your membership profile in a while, please do so today. This is the only way that we know about you! To update your membership profile, simply follow the four easy steps below.
  1. Login to the Member Login at the top of the home page. (If you need your member ID and password, contact AAPOR headquarters at [email protected].)
  2. Click on My Profile.
  3. Click on Professional Info to update your affiliation, degree, and years in research.  Click Save when you are done updating your information.
  4. Click on Demographics to update your year of birth, race, ethnicity, and sex.  Click Save when you are done updating your information.
