We compiled a list of FAQs that we think will be most helpful to AAPOR conference attendees.  We've organized these into the following categories:

Registration

 

How much does registration cost? 

Registration information can be found on the Registration page.
 


 

Do I need to create an AAPOR online account to register for the conference?

Yes. If you have never had an AAPOR account, you will need to create one. If you have an AAPOR account, but you have not logged in to the AAPOR portal after August 9, 2021, you will need to set up your account in our new membership portal. To set up an account, please follow the instructions here.

If you have already set up your account in the new AAPOR member portal, you can use your new credentials to login.
 


 

How do I know I am getting the correct registration rate?

The platform automatically detects the appropriate registration rate based on your account information. If you are seeing an incorrect rate, please review your membership status and join or renew if necessary. If you are still seeing an incorrect status, please contact [email protected] for assistance.
 



What browsers are supported in the registration process?

It is recommended to use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to register for the conference. You can also use Microsoft Edge. Please note that Internet Explorer and Safari are not supported by our registration system. Please download another browser before you begin the registration process.
 



Can I register for the conference using my smartphone or tablet?

Yes! Our registration platform supports mobile use. Please note that it does not support Safari. If you are using an iPhone or iPad to register, please download another browser to proceed with the registration. 
 



I would like to join AAPOR or renew my membership. Can I do this at the same time as my registration?

Unfortunately, you cannot do both processes at the same time. If you would like to receive the member rates, we invite you to join or renew your membership prior to registering for the conference.
 



I have logged in with my AAPOR credentials. Where do I register?

Once you reach the AAPOR portal home page, click Events > Browse Upcoming Events > AAPOR 77th Annual Conference to reach the event homepage. Once on the event homepage, click the Registration tab to begin the process.You can also use this link.
 



I have logged in with my AAPOR credentials. How do I join or renew my membership?

Once you reach the AAPOR portal home page, click Membership > Join/Renew to begin the process.
 


 

What is the cancellation policy? 

Notification of cancellation must be submitted to AAPOR headquarters in writing via email. A $100 cancellation fee will apply to cancellations received by April 13, 2022. No fees will be refunded for conference or short course cancellations received after April 13, 2022. Attendee substitutions are allowed at any time, but must be submitted in writing and the substitute must be the same member status or additional registration fees may be needed.
 




Hotel


What is the hotel cost?

AAPOR has negotiated a special room rate of $229 per night plus a nightly room tax currently set at 17.4% over the following dates: Sunday, May 8th – Saturday, May 14th. You can learn more on the Hotel and Travel page.

 


How do I make a hotel reservation?

We encourage you to make your room reservations early to ensure that you will be in the host hotel at the guaranteed room rate. You can book your group rate here

 


What if I have to cancel my hotel reservation?

Room cancellations must be received at least 72 hours prior to your arrival date to avoid being charged the first night's room rate and applicable taxes.

 

 


AAPOR Conference Health & Safety Hub

 

What if I cannot attend the in-person conference, will there be an option to attend virtually?

The conference will be held in-person in Chicago. There will be no synchronous option to attend the conference virtually.




What happens if there is another COVID surge? 

AAPOR continues to monitor guidelines for health and safety measures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Illinois, and Cook County. AAPOR will follow applicable federal, state and local requirements, adapting conference plans accordingly and sharing updates as available. What safety precautions are being taken at the conference?

What is the best way to navigate the conference? 

The best way to navigate the conference is to download the AAPOR Conference app when it becomes available.  For now, you can access the schedule-at-a-glance.

 


What is the dress code? 

The dress code for the conference is business casual. We recommend layers and comfortable shoes.

Notice to Federal Employees

The Annual AAPOR Conference conforms to the OPM definition of a “developmental assignment.” It is intended for educational purposes; over three quarters of time schedule is for planned, organized exchange of information between presenters and audience, thereby qualifying under section 4101 of title 5, United States Code as a training activity. The AAPOR Conference is a collaboration in the scientific community, whose objectives are to provide a training opportunity to attendees; teach the latest methodology and approaches to survey research best practices; make each attendee a better survey researcher; and, maintain and improve professional survey competency.
