Annual Conference. Gather with old and new friends from AAPOR regional
chapters. Make the most of your conference experience!
Golf
Golf Coordinator Craig Hill has organized the Annual AAPOR Golf
Outing on Thursday, May 13 at Harborside International, with tee times
starting at about 8 a.m. Harborside, while only 16 miles from the Loop,
offers a links-style layout and has been compared to Scottish tracks
such as Muirfield. The course has elevated tees and greens with stunning
views of Chicago’s skyline. Golf club rentals are available at the
course for $40. More information can be found at
www.harborsideinternational.com.
Fun Run/Walk
AAPOR’s Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, May 15 at 7
a.m. Join fellow early risers for some friendly competitive exercise in
our annual two-mile Fun Run/Walk. Transportation will be provided to and
from the event, and all participants will receive bottled water. More
information will be posted on the message board at the conference, and
volunteers will be available Saturday morning to guide runners to the
shuttles. A signed waiver form will be required for participation.
Applied Probability
Few games better illustrate elementary probability theory than
poker. The derivation of an optimal game strategy appears to be beyond
current game theory and has confounded mathematicians, statisticians,
and AAPORites for years. So, if you want to ponder one of the most
popular practical applications of probability, join us Saturday night
after the awards banquet for our Annual Applied Probability session.
Information on the location of the sessions will be available in the
final program.
Speed Networking
What better place than an AAPOR Annual Conference to meet people in
the survey industry who can give you tips and suggestions for future
career opportunities? This might include getting pointers to improve
your resumé or actually learning about job openings that would fit
your skills and interests. You will have two opportunities during the
conference to spend 10-15 minutes meeting representatives from various
organizations and learning about the work they do and the possibilities
of upcoming openings. Full details will be available in the final
program.
