AAPOR Volunteer Opportunities
The AAPOR Social Activities Committee invites you to be a part of the team that makes the Annual Conference a great event for all. We are looking for volunteers to help with many activities. The time commitment varies for each position and you are welcome to sign up for more than one position and/or time slot. All volunteers will wear a special button that identifies you as an AAPOR conference volunteer and ‘go-to’ person. This is a wonderful opportunity for AAPOR members, new and old, to get more involved in AAPOR and to meet other members. No experience or expertise is necessary for any of the positions; the Social Activities Committee will make sure you have all the information you need to handle your assigned tasks. Some volunteer opportunities are listed below, and others will be added as the conference approaches. Indicate your willingness to be a conference volunteer by checking the box on the registration form. You will be contacted in the spring with more details. (For more information please contact Debbie Rexrode , +1 (434) 243-1088).

The Aapor Conference Docent Program
We are looking for a few friendly faces to enhance the Annual
Conference experience for new attendees. Those of you who have been to
several conferences know that AAPOR is unique in its camaraderie,
networking and learning opportunities, and that it’s our members
who make it special. If you want to get more involved in AAPOR (but
perhaps cannot make a long-term commitment), have attended at least two
Annual Conferences in the recent past and would like the opportunity to
show others how best to enjoy and get the most out of the conference,
being an AAPOR Docent is for you. Each AAPOR Docent will be assigned a
group of first-time conference attendees who want to participate in the
docent program. We’re hoping lots of experienced AAPORites will
lend a hand and get involved in this valuable program keeping the number
of first-time attendees in each group small and personal. Docents will
be expected to:
- Contact their assigned individuals before the conference by phone or e-mail
- Be at the conference by Thursday afternoon and able to attend the Thursday night New Member/All-Chapter
- Reception to meet your assigned individuals
- Eat together at one of the AAPOR meals
- And… the rest is up to the group!
There is no expectation of continued commitment after the conference, but we certainly encourage long-term friendships. Individuals participating in the Docent program will not be matched on any specific substantive areas, but we will try to match you based on geographic region, when possible. If you think you would be interested in being an AAPOR Docent Leader, please check the box on the registration form and we will contact you in the spring with more details.
